Respiratory Symptoms Flow Chart for Tri-Light Products

Sniffles and sneezes associated with seasonal allergies NR Glow or AL-R-G (Child) formula or AL-R-G for adults formula Avoid allergen, if possible, or clean environment of allergens as much as possible. No dairy during allergy episode.
Allergy symptoms with thickening mucous Add ViraMune to above choices twice daily; Could also use Sinus Minus if sinus pressure occurs with thickening mucous.  
Scratchy throat, then clear, runny nose, then slight cough, if any - no fever Echinacea & Thyme w/Elderberry or ViraMune, whichever you have on hand; For sore throat symptom, Throat Coat may be used as needed. No dairy products that increase mucous, light foods, spicy foods, if tolerated.
Above cold symptoms with added feeling of lymph fullness or lymph node swelling under jawbone toward ear with or without tendency to ear infection ViraMune, orally with Lympha Rub massaged onto lymph node No dairy, light foods, spicy foods, light exercise to keep lymph fluid moving
Scratchy or morning sore throat due to thick mucous drainage, either clear or opaque; fatigue, stuffy nose, with primarily back of throat profuse drainage, mild cough ViraMune alternated with Scout Out (Give one formula, then the other 2 hours later, then first formula again 2 hours later and so on) or Sinus Minus Same diet as above, rest rather then exercise; make certain water intake occurs each hour to prevent further mucous thickening
Above symptoms with added tummy nausea due to profuse mucous drainage ViraMune with Lomatium and Ginger root added for tummy nausea. Same diet as above, emphasizing spicy foods to break up congestion; berry juices or teas or natural ginger ale to ease tummy upset.
Above symptoms with diarrhea ViraMune or Scout Out with Lomatium, Ginger root and IntestiCalm Same as above, adding carob powder gruel or dried blueberry soup to combat diarrhea
Mucous drainage, perhaps scratchy throat and cough Echinacea & Thyme with Elderberry  
Mocous drainage that is opaque, perhaps yellow or green upon waking, sore throat, fever Scout Out, Throat Coat & Yummy Yarrow w/Elderberry (for fever) Consult with physician if sore throat is severe or accompanied by headache, stomach ache/nausea, high fever

Flu symptoms:  abrupt onset of fever, headache, possible sore throat with cough, body aches, abrupt fatigue Echinacea & Thyme w/Elderberry with added Ginger root and Goldenseal or Oregon Grape root; Lungs Plus or Lung Tonic may be given for wet coughs or Wild Cherry Coffaway given for dry coughs.  Flew Away may be given at bedtime for aches and pains. Light foods, if tolerated; keep up liquid intake to avoid dehydration or progression of flu into secondary bacterial infection.

Immune formulas are generally given every 2 hours during the acute phase of the illness, tapering off as symptoms subside to 3-4 times daily, then weaning off after symptoms have resolved over a 3-5 day period.

Cough formulas may be given at the same time as the immune formulas.

Throat Coat for sore throats may be gargled as needed several times daily.

Yummy Yarrow & Elderberry is a good choice for fevers.

When combining 'parts' of formulas or singles, simply divide your total dose into 4 parts and add in accordingly.  Example: 1 teaspoon of Deep, wet cough formula might be ¾ teaspoon Lungs Plus with ¼ teaspoon Osha root.

Formulas with goldenseal or Oregon Grape root or osha root or coltsfoot should not be taken during pregnancy.

Goldenseal, Oregon Grape and osha root should not be given to children under 3 years of age unless under professional guidance.
